Thirteen
Jane Ormerod

and it fumes
straight from the heart
the scalp
the million drops
of pinkish fizz

duck!
it must not touch you
suffer this pepper sleep
eyes like property
love barfing
me me me

strings attached?
check

meet the murderer
I bark when I spy its tentacles
its ulcerated stomach
the tuba and wrench

there were elms
walnut trees
that night
your torch ziggerty-zagging
as I grew edible
became one final hiss
