Susan Yount, Editor and Publisher
Susan (aka Sissy); was born and raised on a 164-acre farm in Southern Indiana where she learned to drive a tractor, harvest crops, feed the chickens and hug her beloved goat, Cinnamon. Soon after receiving her BA from Indiana University in Photo-Journalism, she married a physicist and moved to Ohio. While attending Kent State University as a guest graduate, she worked at the largest flour mill in northeast Ohio where she kept those Accounts Receivable up-to-date (no small feat, that!). Moving to Chicago, she and her husband built a home on the south side with a view of the Sears Tower. In the middle of the upheaval she found time to give birth to a bouncy baby boy! She is the Editor and Publisher of Arsenic Lobster and works at the Associated Press. Having completed graduate studies in poetry at Columbia College in Chicago, she now balances work, her home and her delightful boy. Only Mimi Mousy Tongue knows what Susan will be doing next and she’s not talking. Her poetry has appeared in several print and online magazines including Elixir, Bathtub Gin, Wicked Alice, Verse Daily and The Chaffin Journal. Susan is a 2003 recipient of The Lynda Hull Memorial Scholarship in Poetry. In 2010 she was awarded first prize in the 16th Annual Juried Reading competition at The Poetry Center Of Chicago. In her spare (!) time she moonlights as the madame at the Chicago Poetry Bordello. Her chapbook,Catastrophe Theory, is out with Hyacinth Girl Press. Jessica Dyer, Associate Editor
Jessica has followed the Abraham Lincoln path to success. That is, she was born in Kentucky, spent her formative years in the same hunk of Southern Indiana as Mr. Lincoln, and then moved to Illinois. She’s still working on the “president” thing, and may have to settle for “president” of some social club. That’s OK with her. Jessica earned a B.S. in journalism from Indiana State University and an MFA in poetry from Columbia College Chicago. Her work has appeared in PANK, North American Review, and So To Speak. Kat Sanchez, Associate Editor
Kat lives in Chicago. Her poetry has published in Syntax, Columbia Poetry Review, PoetsArtists, CutBank, Pank,Bateau, and others. Her chapbook, You are either the fire the hummingbird the California coast or the act of flying backwards In this story, was published by H_NGM_N B__KS in July 2012. She moonlights as a cheesemonger. Her photography and paintings and other life things can be found at thisgoatlife.tumblr.com. Eleanor Humphrey, Intern
Eleanor likes to think she has a plan, but really she’s just skipping through life hoping she doesn’t trip over her shoelaces, or fall into a hole. She was born in Philadelphia, PA, raised in Muskogee, OK, and attends college in Saint Louis, MO. Among classes at Saint Louis University, she also sings with her group, Astha A Cappella, and edits the Sunday Bulletin for Campus Ministry. During down time, when she’s not reading or talking about what she’s read, she’s probably outside, with a song on loop in her head, watching passing planes or the neighbors. When this collegiate life is over, Eleanor hopes to spread her fiery, eye-poppin’ love of literature to an even larger audience through publication or teaching. George Pichowsky, Webmaster
George grew up in California, moving to New York as a teenager. While living in Brooklyn, he helped raise two sons, worked and attended college. As a result of hard work and good luck, his entire forty-year career was spent as a computer programmer on Wall Street. Divorced, he is now retired and living in the Chicago area. Most of his time is spent playing with his grandson and building a model train layout that dominates his living room. He owns the Magere site where Arsenic Lobster lives. |
