wilderness voice
Melissa Eleftherion

every live thing here

rushes of the spring

water music a hot phenomenon

where things snap

silt and rock gap

we cross the sticks gently

our bridge a burned out hollow for little men

clover and ferns a pennaceous

radio for the damp earth

my wilderness in ruins

the redwood corpse

we climb in to sleep

we sleep and enshroud

how the wet catches us

unaware & makes us whole

human dramas a lust moon

we slip between the stones

get our pants wet

rocket flower elides our grasp

we fumble at sticks

how easily rocks become frogs here

little mosses make it so
